The assumption of a "medium covered" nonuniform surface, essential in deriv
ation of the Temkin model (TM), is critically examined in connection with t
he recently proposed corrected model (CTM). Overall coverages for constant
and exponential distribution are calculated within both TM and CTM, for sev
eral values of distribution parameters. Comparison of the obtained results
reveals a certain inconsistency of the original model and its failure for s
ome parameter ranges and the accurate behavior of the corrected version of
the model within broader domains of distribution parameters. Consequently,
the validity of the medium coverages assumption was only proved in restrict
ed nonuniformity conditions.
