Ga. Salishchev et al., Mechanical properties of VT6 titanium alloy with microcrystalline and submicrocrystalline structures, RUSS MET R, (6), 1999, pp. 99-103
The mechanical properties of VT6 titanium alloy with microcrystalline (MC)
and submicrocrystalline (SMC) structure are compared in the temperature ran
ge 20-600 degrees C. The mean grain size for the SMC and MC states is 0.4 a
nd 10 mu m, respectively. The alloy with MC structure is used in a state st
rengthened by quenching and aging. Conversion to the SMC state leads to 22-
24% increase in the short-term strength and yield point at room temperature
. With increase In deformation temperature, the difference in the strength
properties of the alloys with SMC and MC structure persists up to 400 degre
es C. Additional increase in strength of the SMC alloy is established by io
nic modification of the sample surface with gold.
