Xf. Wang et al., Varietal discrimination of tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum L.) by ultrathin-layer isoelectric focusing of seed protein, SEED SCI T, 28(2), 2000, pp. 521-526
Ultrathin-layer isoelectric focusing (UTLIEF) of seed proteins soluble in 4
mmol l(-1) NaCl was used to discriminate tomato varieties. Eight polymorph
ic protein bands were found on the gel with a pH range of 4-8, of which six
bands were reported for the first time. About 87% of pairwise comparisons
of the 11 varieties tested showed at least one different protein band. Almo
st all varieties were found to be not homozygous genetically.
