Abstract
The 2-D modelling of an air cone-jet sensor using finite element method is presented. The optimisation of its configuration is discussed in terms of t he effects of the diameter of the inner venturi tube and the annular space of the cone-jet on measurement. The results have shown that the optimised c one-jet sensor has a wider working range and better linearity than a tradit ional back-pressure sensor. The modelling results show that the output pres sure generally increases with the inside and outside diameters of the annul ar space. An increase in the diameter of the inner venturi tube together wi th the annular space also results in an increase in the output pressure, bu t if only the diameter of the inner venturi tube is increased, the output p ressure will decrease slightly.
