X-ray diffraction studies of a dilute BaTi0.97Zr0.03O3 ferroelectric a
re discussed. It is shown that, at 117 degrees C, the sample undergoes
a smooth ferroelectric phase transition from a cubic to a tetragonal
phase. The temperature variations of the parameters characterizing the
shape of X-ray powder reflections were investigated in the temperatur
e range 60-300 degrees C. Based on these variations, the following seq
uence of phases was determined: a cubic paraelectric phase (above 135
degrees C), a dipole glass (117-135 degrees C), a mixed phase (100-117
degrees C), and a tetragonal ferroelectric phase (below 100 degrees C
).
