Abstract
The synthesis and the X-ray structure analysis of [H2N(CH2CH2)(2)NH2]( 2+)(H3L)(2)(-) crystal, where H4L is 1-hydroxyethane-1,1-diphosphonic acid (PO3H2)(2)C(OH)CH3, are reported. Two phosphonic groups of the an ion are inequivalent: one of them is a neutral group, P(1)O3H2, and th e other is a singly charged group, P(2)O3H-. Piperazinium cations and H3L- anions are interlinked by an extended hydrogen-bonded network.
