Abstract
Vesica(R)-Percutaneous Bladder Neck Suspension (PBNS) is a modified minimal invasive needle suspension for the treatment of anatomic incontinence usin g a bone anchor system for fixation of the suture to the pubic bone. Betwee n Dec. 1995 and lune 1996 10 patients with stress incontinence type II were treated by the Vesica-PBMS-procedure and included in a European multicente r-study to evaluate perioperative complications as well as short and long t erm outcome. Severe perioperative complications were not seen. Although all patients wer e continent at time of discharge, a recurrence of incontinence due to hyper mobility was found in 9 of 10 cases in average 5.25 months postoperatively. Despite its minimal invasiveness this procedure could not be recommended a s first line treatment for urinary stress incontinence.
