Abstract
Clinical symptoms, the pressure gradient between the left ventricle and the aorta, aortic valve area, and aortic jet velocity are usually considered p redictors of severe aortic valve stenosis in the general population. Howeve r, clinical symptoms are often different in aged patients compared with you nger patients.(1,2) Moreover, some echocardiographic parameters are frequen tly hard to calculate, particularly in the very old patient who may have a difficult echocardiographic window. This study identifies predictors of mor tality in very old patients with aortic stenosis.
