Abstract
We present ground-based follow-up photometry in the Geneva seven-colour pho tometric system of six new candidate beta Cep stars. The variability of the se objects was originally found from the HIPPARCOS mission. From the new da ta we are able to confirm their beta Cep-type nature, to detect the pulsati onal frequencies and to identify most of the degrees of the pulsation modes . All six stars turn out to have frequencies in the expected range for beta Cep stars and the degrees of the main mode range from l = 0 up to l = 2, w hich is compatible with theoretical expectations.
