Abstract
We interpret the high energy emission of the radio-galaxy Cen A in terms of non-thermal Inverse Compton emission by a relativistic electron-positron b eam. We show that the recent results from CGRO can he satisfactorily reprod uced by a model implying in-situ formation of a pair plasma inside a MHD je t and emission through a gamma-ray photosphere. The misaligned jet causes a low apparent luminosity and a spectral break shifted to low energy, around 150 keV. The bulk Lorentz factor of the jet must be close to 3, a value pr edicted by the Compton rocket acceleration of a pair plasma but lower that the value of 10 usually assumed for blazars.
