Abstract
We have developed an algorithm for automated detection of stars on OMC imag es and matching the observed stars and stars from a reference catalogue. Th e OMC image is processed in a standard way, but without dark frame substrac tion and a flat-held correction. An algorithm like kappa-clipping is used a s a robust estimator of the background intensity, then a local maximum of t he intensity is found as a first approximation of the position of a star, t he parameters sharp and shape are computed to distiguish between stars and false objects and, finally, a simple correlation of observed and reference stars is computed.
