Abstract
Individuals who experience mild head injury (MHI) sometimes develop postcon cussion syndrome (PCS). However, some mildly head injured persons do not re port these symptoms and some non-head-injured individuals do. For practical purposes, it would be beneficial to be able to accurately diagnose and dif ferentiate any long term effects of MHI. The Short Category Test-Booklet Fo rmat, the Paced Auditory Serial-Addition Task-Revised, the Rey Auditory Ver bal Learning Test, the Rey-Osterrieth Complex Figure Test, and the Symbol-D igit Modalities Test were evaluated for their ability to differentiate indi viduals within tither PCS symptom endorsement status or long term MHI statu s. Results fail to show significant differences between groups in either ca tegory with the exception of the SDMT at differentiating PCS status. (C) 20 00 Academic Press.
