Polyvanadates [BdaH(2)](VO3)(2) (A), [BdaH(2)](3)V10O28. 6H(2)O (B), and [B
daH(2)](2)H2V10O28. 4H(2)O (C) were synthesized from the system V2O5-1,4-bu
tanediammonium (Bda)-H2O-(HCl). Syntheses variables were: mole ratio n(V):
n(Bda), concentration of V, pH of the solution, and reaction temperature. C
ompounds were characterized by S-ray powder diffraction and IR spectra. The
thermal decomposition in air was also studied. As the intermediate reactio
n product of the compound C was determined nonaqueous dihydrogendecavanadat
e [BdaH(2)](2)H2V10O28 (D). V2O5 was the final reaction product of all comp
ounds.
