H. Schwanbeck et U. Schmidt, Preparation and characterisation of magnetic nanostructures using filtration membranes, ELECTR ACT, 45(27), 2000, pp. 4389-4398
To achieve ferromagnetic metal contents higher than those usually obtained
in alumite layers, other templates with similar channel-like pores were fil
led with ferromagnetic cobalt by means of electrodeposition. Anodisc and tr
ack-etch polycarbonate membranes having cylindrical pores of a diameter of
100-300 nm served as such templates. The electrochemical and magnetic prope
rties of electrodeposits obtained from a variety of cobalt electrolytes wit
h different properties are described. The magnetic behaviour of the electro
deposits depends on the shape anisotropy and the crystal anisotropy. Compar
ed with the situation in alumite layers, marked. perpendicular magnetic ani
sotropy was only found for alloys deposited from hypophosphite and maleic a
cid based electrolytes. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
