Abstract
At the beginning of the fifties, the Devoir's literary page change graduall y, contributing to the re-configuration of the literary sphere. Under Gille s Marcotte's responsibility these changes were carried ou in three separate phases: first, more space was allotted to Quebec's authors and critics; af terwards, literature itself was considered within the overall materiality o f cultural life; finally, a certain pre-eminence was given to poetry, which became the most important literary genre. As a result, when the 'Editions de l'Hexagone' were founded, poetry became an integral part of the public s phere.
