Abstract
A coupled-channel model is used to study the nature of the scalar mesons pr oduced in the decay phi --> gamma pi pi. The K (K) over bar molecular pictu re of f(0)(980) is found to be in a good agreement viith the recent experim ental data from SND and CMD-2. The structure of the light scalar mesons is elucidated by investigating the S-matrix poles and the q (q) over bar spect ral density.
