Raman studies of orientational order in MHPOBC

We present the results of our investigations of polarized Raman scattering spectra of aligned MHPOBC in mesomorphic state, which was studied with the main aim to get deeper insight into specifics of molecular orientational or dering of this substance in various mesophases. Observed experimental facts can be well described by the model, when the molecules conserves their ben t configuration and tilt in the mesophases and orientational molecular orde ring in SmCA* differs from that in SmA phase only due to randomisation of t he direction of molecular tilt in SmA phase.
