Abstract
We have studied the PTFE deposition by friction on heated glass substrate p roperties as an alignment layer for both SSFLC and SSAFLC. A microscopic st udy of PTFE textures on a function of different deposition parameters has b een carried out. Teflon aligned cells of ferroelectric and antiferroelectri c materials have been prepared. The use of PTFE as an alternative for surfa ce conditioning of AFLC cells is discussed.
