Abstract
Reflectometry is a powerful and complex diagnostic that needs to be efficie ntly operated in order to take advantage of all the generated data. For thi s reason the control and data acquisition system of the ASDEX-Upgrade refle ctometry diagnostic has been recently improved making the data acquisition more flexible and simplifying the operation procedures. A single daemon-ser ver application runs on a workstation and is responsible for every task req uired by the operation as well as keeping a log about acquired shots. Multi ple users can connect to this server, through internet sockets, using a cli ent application. Although only one of the connected clients is allowed to m ake changes to the system, other users can monitor the current system statu s. In the future, data analysis tools will be included in the operating sof tware improving the interaction between the acquired data and the operation . (C) 2000 Elsevier Science S.A.
