Abstract
This study expands on a preliminary study (see ITAL 17, no. 2) that identif ied ten characteristics of successful Web pages. This study examines the re lationship between the number of D'Angelo Standards for successful Web page s, and time spent viewing the Web page, comprehension of the Web page, and preferences for the Web page. It finds a weak but positive correlation betw een number of D'Angelo Standards included and comprehension, time, and pref erence. Seven percent of comprehension is attributable to the number of D'A ngelo Standards included, a significant finding since overall comprehension of Web pages, as measured by percent of correctly answered questions, was only 61 percent, and Web pages overall only included 6.5 of the D'Angelo St andards.
