The low temperature structures reported for the rhombohedral C14 type deriv
ative ZrCr2D3.8, [Irodova & Suard, J. Alloys Comp. 299 (2000) 32-38] and th
e monoclinic C15 type derivatives ZrV2Dx (x=2.18, 1.94, 1.48, 1.18) and HfV
2D1.92 [Irodova & Suard, J. Alloys Comp. 291 (1999) 184-189] are found to b
e centrosymmetric rather than non-centrosymmetric. New structure refinement
s based on the original neutron diffraction data collected at 100 K yield m
ore consistent results and significantly different deuterium atom distribut
