Abstract
The outcome of anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction augmented wi th the Ligament Augmentation Device (LAD), a braided polypropylene device, was reported in 60 patients out of 105, at an average of 94.7 months after surgery. As autogenous tissue, quadriceps tendon-prepatellar periosteum-pat ellar tendon (QTS), and then semitendinosus and gracilis tendons (STG) were selected. At current follow-up, there were no significant differences of a ny parameter among the 3 groups. Anterior laxity with KT-1000 averaged a di fference of 3.3 mm with 8 knees more than 5 mm. Revision surgery was needed in 10 knees (5.3%). The QTS group improved in extension loss and extension strength, while the STG group showed deterioration in anterior stability o ver the longer term. There was no persistent problem of cases with chronic hydrops.
