Abstract
A new retro-carotenoid (1) isolated from the petals of the Californian yell ow poppy, Eschscholtzia californica, was determined to be (all-E)-(3S, 5R, 3'S)-4',5-retro-beta,beta-carotene-3,5,3'-triol by spectroscopic analysis.
