Abstract
This paper proposes and gives a preliminary verification of a new quantitat ive method for describing the contour of the individual bands in the absorp tion spectra of Liquids and solutions. The method is described by jointly c onsidering the contributions of two independent statistical mechanisms of i nhomogeneous broadening of spectral bands-the fluctuations of the isotropic and anisotropic components of the total interaction potential of the molec ule wi th the surroundings.
