Abstract
The preparation of four spinel oxides CuxMn3-xO4 by spray pyrolysis is studied. The lattice parameter, a, is a function of the copper conten t 0.8372 > a > 0.8304 nm on the range x=1 to x=1.3. Analysis of the X- ray diffraction data lets to know the cationic distribution. These res ults are further confirmed by the study of magnetic behaviour and XPS analysis. The ionic distribution of copper and manganese ions over A- and B- sites of the lattice corresponds to partially inverse 1-gamma2[Cu1+x-gamma2+Mngamma-2x3+Mn1+x4+]O-4(2-) spinels. Open circuit potent ial, surface acidity and acid group density on surface of the oxide el ectrodes were determined. Linear relationships between these parameter s and the manganese cations in octahedral sites were established.
