Abstract
An earlier study of atomic hydrogen ionization suppression in the clas sical ensemble established the existence of an optimum ramp-up of turn -on to very high fields. In this work, the role of the field turn-on i s corroborated with an analysis of the relative stability of orbits of the classical ensemble. A strategy to initiate an optimum ensemble fo r enhanced suppression is demonstrated by using a prepulse.
