Abstract
Here we report the evidence for a new ground-state atomic effect that occurs in a strong radiation field. It is characterized, in a plot of end-of-pulse ionization probability vs. peak pulse intensity, by an os cillatory modulation. This modulation rides above the average ionizati on probability and can be identified with electron emission from two a tomic sites.
