New features on electron dynamical processes produced during the inter
action of a linearly polarized short intense laser pulse with an isola
ted H-2(+) molecular ion are reported. On the assumption of Born-Oppen
heimer approximation for nuclei motion we emphasize the leading role o
f molecular structure in order to explain new features concerning ioni
zation and, as a result, harmonic generation. In particular, we analyz
e the connection between internal tunnel ionization and harmonic order
s exceeding the expected atomic cutoff frequencies, as well as the dep
endence of harmonic efficiencies on the ionization regime.
