Abstract
We have investigated strong-field ionization of the Ar atoms by 200-fs pulses of the Ti-sapphire laser. The ratio of the ion yield obtained by circularly polarized radiation over the ion yield obtained by linea rly polarized radiation is found to be intensity dependent: this ratio is growing with the intensity of the laser radiation. This new observ ation is in qualitative agreement with the tunneling theory.
