The angular distribution of photoelectrons ejected from atoms under th
e action of a coherent mixture of the fields of the fundamental wave a
nd the second harmonic is calculated. The case of linearly polarized s
econd-harmonic radiation and elliptically polarized fundamental radiat
ion is considered. It is demonstrated that the asymmetry in the angula
r distribution of photoelectrons is highly sensitive to the parameters
of elliptical polarization of the fundamental wave. Along with the me
asurement of the phase difference, this effect can be applied to contr
ol the angular distribution of photoelectrons.
