An investigation of electron transport in argon in the presence of crossed
electric and magnetic fields is carried out over a wide range of values of
electric and magnetic field strengths. Values of mean energy, ionization ra
te. drift velocity, and diffusion tensor are reported here. Two unexpected
phenomena arise; for certain values of electric and magnetic field we find
regions where the swarm mean energy decreases with increasing electric fiel
ds for a fixed magnetic field and regions where swarm mean energy increases
with increasing magnetic field for a fixed electric field.
