Application of dual polarimetric radar for weather modification in China

The potential capability of dual polarimetric radar, which could measure mi crophysics characteristics of precipitation is well known. It is gradually understood in China that dual polarimetric radar will become a main command tool instead of the conventional weather radar for weather modification. T he paper will describe an updated radar command system of weather modificat ion operation for ingesting systematic data and discuss some practical tech nical problems such as auto-calibration, ground processing, and radar infor mation distribution.
