Abstract
For forty years cross-correlation has been used as the extrapolation predic
tor for forecasting precipitation echoes. This paper demonstrates that the
method can be extended to three dimensions. In the examples studied the bes
t match of a storm layer at one time is usually a lower-level storm layer a
t a subsequent time.
