J. Konopkova et F. Tokar, ENERGY POTENTIAL OF VARIOUS STAND TYPES OF EUROPEAN CHESTNUT (CASTANEA-SATIVA MILL) IN SLOVAKIA, EKOLOGIA-BRATISLAVA, 16(2), 1997, pp. 117-128
The work evaluates energy values of dry matter (kJ.g(-1)) and abovegro
und biomass (GJ.ha(-1)) and its components determined by a water calor
imeter of KL-5 type in various stand types of European chestnut (Casta
nea sativa Mill.) at the age of 28 years on a series of PRA-s at Lefan
tovce. Highest energy values were found in fruits of European chestnut
(29.55 kJ.g(-1)) and smallest in its bark (17.08 kJ.g(-1)). The highe
st total heat energy was recorded in pure stands of European chestnut
(2514.84 GJ.ha(-1)), the highest proportion of which falls to stem (83
.65%) and the smallest to fruits (1.08%). Of the mixed stands higher t
hermal energy was recorded in mixed stands of European chestnut and li
ttle-leaf linden (2352.08 GJ.ha(-1)) in comparison with mixed stands o
f European chestnut and Scotch pine (2308.54 GJ.ha(-1)).
