White pitch, generated from synthetic binders, is introduced to paper machi
ne systems through the use of recycled-coated paper or coated broke. To min
imize white pitch agglomeration and deposition in the paper machine circuit
, the use of a cationic fixing agent is common. A unique polymer has been d
eveloped to improve white pitch fixation. A laser-optical particle counter
was used to evaluate the effectiveness of this polymer, compared to polyami
ne.
