This symposium marks the beginning of a new millenium. As such, it seemed t
imely to step back and assess where we are in nuclear physics and where we
are going. With that in mind, the organizers invited a group of distinguish
ed members of the nuclear physics community, representing most of the areas
of contemporary importance in the field, and asked them first to present o
verview talks on their subject and then to participate in a round table pan
el discussion an "Future Perspectives in Nuclear Physics". Their overview t
alks can be found elsewhere in these Proceedings. Here we present brief sum
maries of their remarks made in the panel discussion.
