Influence of a fine structure of density field upon propagation of sma
ll-amplitude internal waves in a deep ocean with constant Brunt-Vaisal
a frequency is studied in Boussinesq approximation. The resonant expan
sion method for Green functions is used to obtain expressions for a se
cond order moment of radiated by a distributed source field in a rando
mly stratified fluid. The possibilities of wave energy localization in
vertical direction as well as of fluctuation waveguide formation in t
he absence of regular wave refraction are demonstrated. Basing on resu
lts of the density fine-structure spectra measurements the region in f
requency-wavelength domain is determined where the localization effect
s could manifest themselves in the main oceanic pycnocline.
