Abstract
The dipole moment of each of two uncharged conducting spheres with radius R in an external electric field was calculated. The distance between the cen ters of the spheres is 2l. It was shown that, if R/l less than or similar t o 0.8, the influence of higher multipole moments is negligible. (C) 2000 MA IK "Nauka/ Interperiodica".
