Ip. Holmes et Hb. Kagan, The asymmetric addition of trimethylsilylcyanide to aldehydes catalysed byanionic chiral nucleophiles. - Part 1, TETRAHEDR L, 41(39), 2000, pp. 7453-7456
Trimethylsilylcyanide has been added to a number of aldehydes using a highl
y active chiral catalyst. This procedure gives the TMS ethers of the corres
ponding cyanohydrins in excellent chemical yields with enantiomeric excesse
s of up to 59%. The reaction is believed to occur through hypervalent silic
on intermediates. (C) 2000 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
