Abstract
This article discusses F.-W. Korsten's Jeptha interpretation, recently pres ented in this journal (115 (1999), p. 315-333). It argues that Korsten's an alysis, which is to be considered as a 'modern-rhetorical' reading, is fund amentally non-historical. Therefore his opinions are by no means comparable with the so-called historicizing paradigm, which dominates research in sev enteenth-century Dutch drama.
