In this article,we studied the thermoluminescence of pure PbWO4 and PbWO4:Y
above room temperature (30 degrees C - 300 degrees C). We found that Y3+-d
oping reduces the intensity of thermoluminescence of PbWO4 and moves the pe
aks of thermoluminescence to higher temperature after gamma-ray irradiation
about 1 Mrad dose, which can improve the stability of PbWO4 luminescence. W
e also calculated the parameters of the traps, namely the depth of traps, f
requency factor and the time of release from the traps at 300 K. Visible li
ght can also influence thermoluminescence. The intensity of thermoluminesce
nce below 240 degrees C increased after blue and green illumination for all
samples. Furthermore, visible light can induce new thermoluminescence peaks
in some samples, which is caused either by that the carriers released by vi
sible light are subsequently retrapped by some shallower traps,or the visib
le light illumination may possibly create new types of traps.
