Abstract
The ethylene (C2H4) adsorbed on Ru(10 (1) over bar 10) surface has been stu died by X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), thermal desorption spectros copy (TDS) and ultraviolet photoelectron spectroscopy (UPS). The results sh ow that ethylene absorbs in molecular state on Ru(10 (1) over bar 0) surfac e stably below 200 K. The dehydrogenation of ethylene occurs at 200 K. The main product of the dehydrogenation of the absorbed ethylene is the acetyle ne (C2H2). After the dehydrogenation of the absorbed ethylene, the Cls shift s 0.3 eV to low binding energy lever, and the binding energies of sigma(CC) and sigma(CH) bond have an increase of 0.5eV and 1.1eV respectively.
