Abstract
H-1 spin-lattice relaxation times in the rotating frame and free induc tion decays were measured on poly(methyl methacrylate)/poly(ethylene o xide) blends over the whole composition range. In these systems, in wh ich one component is an amorphous polymer and the other one can crysta llize, experiments combining both H-1 and C-13 n.m.r. spectroscopies a llowed the determination of the composition of each phase. Results thu s obtained led to the conclusion that phase separation occurs during t he freeze-drying step. Therefore, poly(ethylene oxide) crystallization takes place in a poly(ethylene oxide) rich phase. (C) 1997 Elsevier S cience Ltd.
