Abstract
Quantitative data have been obtained on the surface structure of pyrog enic silica with a hydroxy group coating by solid-state Si-29 NMR. Con siderations presented include the existence of intraglobular hydroxy g roups, the thermal stability of silanediol population and the possibil ity of the existence of silanetriol groups. NMR spectra of crystalline specimens of polysilicic acid are also considered.
