H. Vivier et al., Imaging in powder technology from visualization to measurement: Application to shape quantification, CAN J CH EN, 78(4), 2000, pp. 682-693
Image analysis tools and statistical procedures have been developed to quan
tify particle shape. Three copper sulfate crystallization processes have be
en carried out and the effects of process operating parameters upon crystal
morphology have been studied as well as the relationships between morpholo
gy and powder end use properties. Both aspects give the capability to maste
r end-use properties by the process parameters. It is also shown that size
distribution without morphology is deficient to globally characterize a pow
der and to describe its behaviour.
