Abstract
The probability of monotone system failure on a fixed time interval is stud ied. The failure and repair distribution functions are assumed to be of a g eneral form. A new accelerated simulation method is proposed, which makes i t possible to investigate systems consisting of components with essentially different reliability characteristics.
