In this paper we present current results which illustrate various aspects o
f the patterns of energy use in nondomestic buildings derived From the stat
istical analysis of data obtained from energy surveying activities. The rea
son for producing such results is explained. The means of organising result
s in a meaningful manner is introduced. Standard methods of statistical ana
lysis are described by using results from the current sample of office prem
ises as an example. Comparisons of energy-use patterns are presented for el
even prominent activity categories within the United Kingdom nondomestic bu
ilding stock.
