Priority queue-based IEEE1394 device driver supporting real-time characteristics

This paper proposes architecture for an IEEE1394 device driver that can sup port the priority-based queueing of packets, thereby guaranteeing device dr iver level support for real-time characteristics; and improving the predict ability of high priority applications. This architecture can accommodate th e real-time requirements of various applications and services such as digit al multimedia services with QoS guarantees, IEEE1394-based real-time instru mentation and control application, and the implementation of real-time midd leware in home networks.
