Abstract
In this paper we propose CPU load-scalable video decoder algorithms using s everal DCT manipulations such as low pass filtering and resolution conversi on in DCT domain, and their application to multi-channel multicast system. In the experiment, it is shown that the graceful and effective decoder scal ability can be realized in terms of quality and decoding complexity without sacrificing decoding frame rate by selecting appropriate decoding algorith ms. it is also shown that simultaneous decoding of tens of channels in an o rdinary PC can be realized by applying scalable video decoding algorithms.
