Abstract
This paper presents a combined differential evolution/multiple gradient sum mation approach for reducing harmonic distortion with active power line con ditioners (APLC's), The purpose of this approach is to minimize the total i njection currents of APLC's while satisfying harmonic standards and practic al constraints such as the individual harmonic voltage distortion, total ha rmonic voltage distortion limits, and the commercially available discrete s izes of the APLCS. The proposed approach was tested on an 18-bus radial dis tribution system. Results obtained show that the proposed approach can effe ctively solve the APLC installation problem.
